St. Johnsbury News
St. Johnsbury Healthy Community has established a Steering Committee and is holding a Training:
”Healthy Communities ~ Establishing a Bed Bug Task Force and What We Need to Know about Bed Bugs”
Wednesday, November 20, 9:00-11:00, at the Dept. of Health.
The St. J Healthy Communities-Bed Bug Task Force is facilitated by the Agency of Human Services Field Services Director and includes representatives from the Fire Department and Health Office, as well as the Community Justice Center, Community Connections, Northeast Kingdom Community Action and Legal Aid.
The task force just received a $3000 grant from the Northern Vermont Regional Hospital (NVRH) Community Health Fund. We will be offering support to tenants, new tenants, warming shelter clients, and people who are looking to move, with a welcome bag which will include: mattress covers, bed bug traps, other supplies and access to a hot box, laundry vouchers, and other supports. We will also be developing and distributing community education to empower families and individuals to take control of their living spaces.
